Early Status Herbicide Applications and the Right Adjuvant Package

We’ve had a good stretch of moisture and a nice break in the weather. I’ve been out checking the runway and dropping off some chemical—and had a timely conversation with a grower about his upcoming status application. Thought I’d share what we talked about.
What We’re Flying
Not much flying today, but plenty of prep. Status herbicide is a popular herbicide this time of year, and we’re working with guys to make sure their adjuvant packages are dialed in. I like Bronc Triple early—it’s got nitrogen and NIS, so it covers your bases in one jug without getting too aggressive.
What We’re Seeing in the Field
The weeds are still small and actively growing, which means we can get by with a lighter touch on adjuvants. This grower is planning a full Status pass across his corn, and the timing is solid. The key is pairing it with the right nitrogen source—either AMS or 32%. We covered how and when to go stronger with MSO if the season turns dry or the weeds get tougher.
Tips for Using Status Herbicide Early
If you’re running Status early, you don’t always need the heavy-duty adjuvants. I always recommend a nitrogen source, but NIS is usually enough right now. MSO might come into play later in the season, especially in rescue scenarios or under tougher conditions. For now, efficiency and crop safety are top of mind.
In Wrap...
Getting the adjuvant package right upfront can save you trouble later on. If you’ve got questions about what fits your acres, give me a call.
